Spartak Moscow are reportedly refusing to sell Quincy Promes to Southampton as they have been unable to bring in a replacement for the Dutch winger.
The Saints have added Guido Carrillo to their ranks this month and had hoped to complete a deal for Promes on the final day of the winter window.
Southampton are understood to have had a £25m bid knocked back for the 26-year-old earlier this week and, according to Sky Sports News, they now accept that a transfer will not be completed ahead of tonight's deadline.
Spartak were happy with the sum offered by the Premier League side, but could not find a like-for-like replacement and therefore rebuffed the offer.
Promes, under contract at the Otkrytie Arena until the end of the 2020-21 season, is said to have been holding out for a bigger club.
