Southampton and West Ham United have reportedly set their sights on signing Boavista winger Alberth Elis, who has expressed his desire to play in the Premier League.
The Honduran attacker enjoyed a successful debut season in Portugal during the 2020-21 campaign, as he scored eight goals and provided seven assists in 31 appearances for the side.
Playing for Boavista was Elis's first taste of European football, having played for Houston Dynamo in the MLS before that, netting 35 times and providing 28 assists in 101 appearances for the United States team.
According to A Bola, Brighton & Hove Albion and Watford showed interest in Elis last April, but they now face competition from fellow English top-flight sides Southampton and West Ham.
It is reported that the Saints and the Hammers began talks with Boavista to enquire about a price tag for Elis, whose contract does not expire until 2024, and he is now valued at €10m (£8.61m).
Elis is a versatile forward who can operate anywhere along a front three, but his predominante position is on the right wing. body check tags ::
