Danny Hylton's second-half penalty cancelled out Southend United's first-half lead as Oxford United earned a point from their League Two match this afternoon.
Conor Clifford laid the ball off to Jack Payne, who drilled the ball low into the corner of the net to make it 1-0 to Phil Brown's side in the 36th minute.
Southend took their lead into the break and were looking likely to take away the victory before Luke Prosser brought down Hylton in the area,
The striker stepped up to convert himself to bring the scores level, and both teams failed to score any of their chances in the last 20 minutes of a game which petered out into a draw.
