Southend United have completed the signing of Bolton Wanderers defender Cian Bolger on a month-long loan deal.
The 21-year-old joined Bolton from Leicester City last January for an undisclosed fee.
Bolger is yet to make a first-team appearance for the Trotters.
"He's not played first-team football with Bolton, but I saw him against Spurs' Under-21s and it was a very dominant defensive performance against a strong Spurs side," Southend boss Phil Brown told the club's official website.
"He's a big voice on the pitch and has all the attributes of strong defender. We've been missing that since Luke Prosser's injury.
"I'm delighted we have been able to bring him in. It will help freshen things up and I'm sure he can play an important role."
Bolger made four appearances for Colchester United during a loan spell earlier this season.
