Eleven Spain Women coaches resign in protest against under-fire president Luis Rubiales after the 46-year-old kissed Jenni Hermoso at the World Cup final.

Eleven members of Spain Women's coaching staff have resigned from their roles in protest against under-fire president Luis Rubiales.

The 46-year-old has faced countless calls to step down from his post after kissing forward Jenni Hermoso on the lips after Spain beat England in the Women's World Cup final.

Rubiales has insisted that the kiss was consensual and refused to resign during a bizarre press conference at the Extraordinary Assembly earlier this week, but Hermoso has disputed his version of events.

A total of 56 Spain Women players - including all members of their World Cup-winning crop - announced on Friday that they would not play any games until Rubiales left his position, while the likes of David de Gea, Iker Casillas, Hector Bellerin and Borja Iglesias - who is also boycotting national-team duty - have also condemned his actions.

As the furore continues, Jorge Vilda's entire coaching team from their recent World Cup triumph have quit their jobs, although the manager himself - who is in line for a new four-year contract - has stayed on.

Assistant managers Montse Tome, Javier Lerga and Eugenio Gonzalo, physio Blanca Romero Moraleda and goalkeeper coach Carlos Sanchez are among those to leave, as have six age-group staff.

A statement released by the 11 departed coaches hit out at Rubiales's "unacceptable attitudes and statements" during and after the final, as he also celebrated by grabbing his crotch close to the royal family.

"Those named below express their firm and resounding condemnation of the conduct shown by the RFEF president," the statement read. "He offered a story that does not reflect in any way what was felt by Jenni Hermoso, who has expressly stated that she felt she was the 'victim of aggression'.

"Given the unacceptable attitudes and statements made by the president, they have made the decision to relieve themselves of their duties."

A few hours before the mass coaching exodus, FIFA provisionally suspended Rubiales for 90 days while disciplinary proceedings against the Spanish Football Federation president commence.

"The chairman of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee, Jorge Ivan Palacio (Colombia), in use of the powers granted by article 51 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code (FDC), has decided today to provisionally suspend Mr Luis Rubiales from all football-related activities at national and international level," a statement read.

"This suspension, which will be effective as of today, is for an initial period of 90 days, pending the disciplinary proceedings opened against Mr Luis Rubiales on Thursday, August 24.

"The decision adopted by the chairman of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee has been communicated today to Mr Luis Rubiales, the RFEF and UEFA for due compliance. The FIFA Disciplinary Committee will not provide any further information on these disciplinary proceedings until a final decision has been taken."

As part of his suspension, Rubiales has also been ordered not to contact Hermoso, who is the all-time top goalscorer for the Spain Women's team with 51 goals.
