Spain captain Iker Casillas has admitted that Spain rode their luck to beat Portugal in their Euro 2012 semi-final.
Spain had just one shot on target during the 0-0 draw and missed their first penalty in the shootout.
However, Casillas went on to save Portugal's first spot kick and saw another hit the woodwork as Spain progressed to their third consecutive major international final, where they will face Italy.
"After starting by missing that penalty it was important to equalise, and we made it," said the Real Madrid goalkeeper.
"In the end we were lucky because penalty shootouts are actually about luck. We were rewarded after 120 minutes of suffering. A month ago I tasted the bitter side of a shoot-out (against Bayern Munich in the Champions League), but now I'm happy to experience the other side.
"It's about guessing where the ball will go, not much more."
Casillas is one of the most-decorated players in football history having won every domestic and international title available to him, while his 136 appearances for Spain also make him their most-capped player ever.
