Spain midfielder Ander Herrera says that his team showed their "togetherness" with two late goals in Tuesday's 2-2 draw with England.

Spain midfielder Ander Herrera has claimed that Tuesday's international friendly with England, where La Roja fought back from two goals down to draw 2-2, showed the "togetherness" of the group.

England led by two clear goals entering the penultimate minute of normal time at Wembley, but Iago Aspas made it 2-1 in the 89th minute, before Isco secured a share of the spoils for Spain in the sixth minute of added time.

Herrera has said that his team showed their "footballing ability and character" in the latter stages, while the Manchester United midfielder also revealed his delight at making his debut for the national team.

"We will take pride from this performance and fightback, that showed our footballing ability and character. We finished the game very strongly and whilst it was important to beat Macedonia [on Saturday], tonight (Tuesday) was showed our fighting spirit," Herrera told reporters.

"Another team would have surrendered but we did not give up and that shows our quality as a team, it shows the togetherness of our group. Wembley is the best stage to debut, it was so exciting and an honour to represent my country... I will have to frame the shirt!"

Herrera represented Spain at Under-20, Under-21 and Under-23 level before finally making his senior bow on Tuesday night.
