Spain boss Vicente del Bosque hints that he will sign a two-year contract extension with the European and world champions.

Spain boss Vicente del Bosque has hinted that he will extend his contract with the European and world champions for a further two years.

The 62-year-old, whose current deal expires next year, is also confident that La Roja will impress in the World Cup next summer.

"We're starting from a position which is not new - the Federation has, for many years, had a system where once qualification is achieved, they renew the Coach's contract," Del Bosque told reporters at a press conference.

"There is no exception with me and the idea is to continue, although we know that things can wear over the years. However, that has not been the case with us, there has not been much wear.

"When I arrived [as coach], everyone told me that it was the worst time to take on the team - they had won a tournament. I thought it was the best time, that we had the momentum of having won the European Championships."

Del Bosque added that Spain can have a successful World Cup in Brazil next summer.

"Our chances in Brazil? In football there are cycles and this is one for Spanish football," he said. "And we must take care not to step out of line.

"We have to believe in ourselves, but not think that we are the best in the world, which is something I repeat."

Del Bosque took charge of Spain in 2008.
