David Silva has claimed that he and his Spain teammates are "ready" to defend their World Cup title.
The Spaniards get their campaign underway on Friday when they face the Netherlands in Salvador.
Despite a number of strong sides vying to be crowned world champions, Silva insists that Spain will be doing all that they can to start the tournament on a positive note.
"We know the environment that awaits us. Now we have a base here and that's great for us. We are ready," he told Marca.
"The first game is crucial and if we win it, it's an important game. We have very good strikers and we hope to score a lot of goals."
Silva scored eight goals in 40 games for Manchester City last season to help them win the Premier League and the League Cup.
