Sporting Gijon have claimed a vital win in their fight against relegation with a 1-0 victory over Sevilla at the Estadio Municipal El Molinon.
David Barral and Adrian Colunga both missed chances in the opening 20 minutes for the hosts, while Diego Perotti should have done better when he put a header wide at the other end.
Perotti nearly made amends minutes later, but his header came back off the post.
However, it was Gijon who went ahead in the 32nd minute thanks to Andre Castro's strike.
Both sides pushed forward in the second half as chances fell to Sevilla duo Jesus Navas and Ivan Rakitic, while Formose Mendy fired wide of the post for the home side.
The visitors increased the pressure in the final 10 minutes, but some wayward shooting from substitute Piotr Trochowski and Manu saw Gijon claim a hard-earned three points.
