Rafael van der Vaart will not be moving to Sporting Kansas City during the summer, according to club coach Peter Vermes.
The Dutchman is looking for a new team after it emerged that his contract with Hamburger SV would not be renewed at the end of the season.
Van der Vaart has been linked with a move to the MLS outfit, but Vermes revealed that both parties were "too far apart" in terms of money.
"It wouldn't make sense for us," Vermes told the Kansas City Star. "No disrespect to him, but it doesn't make sense for the kind of numbers we're talking."
Sporting are currently seventh in the Western Conference standings.
