Sporting Lisbon were denied a second win of the season as Pacos de Ferreira fought back to claim a 1-1 draw.
It was Pacos who made the brighter start to the match and they were almost gifted a goal when Paulo Oliveira's back pass played in Edson, but Rui Patricio was off his line to quickly to clear the danger.
Sporting quickly improved as the first half progressed, but a good chance to break the deadlock was wasted when Bryan Ruiz hesitated with a shot to allow Fabio Cardoso to make a fine block.
However, the lead belonged to the hosts four minutes before the break when Ruiz collected the ball in space on the left before pulling back an inch-perfect cross for Andre Carrillo, who kept his composure to fire home.
Gelson Martins was sent on by Jorge Jesus at the break and the midfielder almost made an immediate impact when his low effort drifted just a few inches wide of the post.
Pacos enjoyed long spells on top in the second half, but Sporting appeared to be defending well enough to secure all three points.
The visitors were finally rewarded for the pressure thanks to a mistake from Joao Pereira, who gifted Pacos a penalty and received a straight red card for bringing down Cicero in the box.
Pacos midfielder Pele stepped up from 12 yards and he sent Patricio the wrong way with a calm finish to clinch a point for his side.
