Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that Toby Alderweireld and Kieran Trippier will not be included in Tottenham Hotspur's squad for Tuesday's Champions League tie at Inter Milan.
The defensive duo were not part of the Lilywhites' travelling party that set off for San Siro on Monday afternoon, despite neither player carrying an injury.
Asked about his decision to overlook Alderweireld and Trippier for selection at his pre-match presser, Pochettino put it down to "technical reasons", suggesting that they are being rested ahead of the trip to Brighton & Hove Albion next weekend.
Tottenham will also be without the services of skipper Hugo Lloris and Dele Alli for their opening Group B match, with both men failing to shake off the injuries that ruled them out of Saturday's 2-1 loss against Liverpool.
Moussa Sissoko is still not fit, meanwhile, leaving Pochettino with a selection dilemma of sorts.
