Eddie Howe: 'Tottenham Hotspur will be hurting after Euro exit'

Eddie Howe wants his Bournemouth players to 'focus on themselves' and not Tottenham Hotspur following their opponents' exit from the Champions League this week.

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe hopes to use the Vitality Stadium atmosphere to pile further misery on Tottenham Hotspur following their midweek Champions League exit.

The Lilywhites head to the south coast four days on from their crushing 4-3 aggregate defeat to Juventus in the last 16 of UEFA's showpiece competition.

Howe is now eager to add Tottenham's name to a list of big-name scalps after overcoming both Arsenal and champions Chelsea in the Premier League since the turn of the year.

"They have been playing really well lately and are on a really good unbeaten run," he said at Friday's pre-match press conference. "The [Champions League] exit will have really hurt them, they were the best team for the majority of that game.

"But being at home, we have to focus on ourselves. Since Christmas we have been very strong and have beaten some big teams here.

"I think we are capable of beating anybody here. We have beaten some very good teams - the crowd get behind us and we make it very difficult for opposing teams."

Bournemouth have taken 19 points from their 14 games at the Vitality Stadium this term, placing them 14th in the home form table.
