Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris says that the team can be "pleased" with a point following a goalless draw with Champions League opponents Bayer Leverkusen.

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has claimed that the team can be "pleased" with a point after they held on to record a goalless draw with Bayer Leverkusen in Germany.

Mauricio Pochettino's side currently sit second in Group E of the Champions League, with AS Monaco leading the way by one point.

Spurs failed to make the most of their first-half chances, and in the end, were fortunate to come away with something following a dominant second-half display from Leverkusen.

"We are pleased with a point," Lloris told BT Sport. "I think we missed chances in the first half and at this level if you don't score it is difficult to win games. Then in the second half the game turned. Leverkusen pressed high and we struggled a bit. I think a draw is a good result for us.

"We did a job defensively together. We were strong in midfield too, they contributed to getting the point. I think we can congratulate everyone. Let's see what will happen in two weeks."

Lloris played a pivotal role in denying Leverkusen victory as he made a crucial save to stop Javier Hernandez's shot from nestling into the back of the net.

"You need a bit of luck in that kind of action and this time I saved the goal," said Lloris. "It was a key moment but it was not the only one. We should have scored in the first half and then the game would have been much different.

"I think we all want to go back to Wembley. The first game against Monaco is still in our minds and we want revenge for everyone and all the fans, they deserve more."

Leverkusen are third in the group, just one point behind Spurs.
