Inter Milan attacking midfielder Ricardo Alvarez has admitted that losing to Tottenham Hotspur on away goals leaves a "bitter taste" in the mouth.
Emmanuel Adebayor's extra-time strike made the comeback just too much for Inter, despite Alvarez equalising the aggregate scores, and the Argentinian has said that the focus is now on the league.
"Obviously we are unhappy with our UEFA Europa League exit, but it was a great display," UEFA.com quotes him as saying. "We may have got more from this match, but in football you don't always get what you deserve.
"I'm glad I scored, although the final result left a bitter taste in the mouth. We must keep our heads up and concentrate on our next Serie A matches.
"Our target is to finish third in the league and it will not be easy. Tonight's performance encourages us, even if Tottenham played with a little less pace than they did in the first leg."
Inter are currently fifth, four points away from city rivals AC Milan in third.
