Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has suggested that defender Toby Alderweireld may not return to the squad for Saturday's FA Cup tie at Newport County.
Earlier this week, Alderweireld declared himself fit for the clash in South Wales after recovering from a hamstring injury which has kept him out of action for almost three months.
However, Pochettino has hinted that both the Belgian international and Danny Rose - who has been suffering with a knee problem - remain doubtful for the encounter with the League Two outfit.
At his pre-match press conference, the 45-year-old told reporters: "I don't know. Today I don't know. They need to build their fitness, they integrate slowly with the team.
"But I repeat it's not the same to be integrating and start training with the team and be fit to play. It's a massive step in between."
Spurs head into the game having only secured a 1-1 draw at Southampton last weekend.
