Tottenham Hotspur and England striker Harry Kane has undergone a scan on his injured right ankle and is awaiting the results.
The 24-year-old left the field in the first half of the Lilywhites' 4-1 win over Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon following a collision with opposition goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino admitted after the match that he is "concerned" about the extent of the damage, with Kane spending two separate spells on the sidelines last season with an identical problem.
The London Evening Standard reports that the Premier League's joint-top scorer will have further assessments over the next few days, and a conclusive verdict of Monday's scan is not expected for at least another 24 hours.
Kane is almost certain to miss Saturday's trip to Swansea City in the FA Cup and is doubtful for England's upcoming friendlies against the Netherlands and Italy.
