Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has revealed that Kevin De Bruyne will be unavailable for Sunday's Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur.
The Belgium international did not feature in any of Man City's pre-season friendlies or the Community Shield against Leicester City last weekend.
De Bruyne has been pictured in training over the last week, leading to suggestions that he would be available for the clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
However, Guardiola, speaking during Friday's pre-match press conference, said that the 30-year-old would not be able to play in his side's season opener in North London.
"He's getting better, every day. We're still waiting," Guardiola told reporters. "He cannot do the full training session, some with us and some alone. We'll see what happens in the next days."
De Bruyne enjoyed another impressive 2020-21 campaign for the Citizens, scoring 10 times and registering 18 assists in 40 appearances in all competitions.
