Hello and welcome to
Sports Mole's live coverage of the match in the Premier League between Southampton and
Tottenham Hotspur. The Saints are sitting two points above the relegation zone, while Spurs have a chance to go six points clear in third place. The two teams are making their way out at St Mary's, so let's see who features in each starting lineup...
SOUTHAMPTON XI: Gunn; Bednarek, Yoshida, Vestergaard; Valery, Ward-Prowse, Romeu, Hojbjerg, Bertrand; Redmond; Austin
TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR XI: Lloris; Walker-Peters, Sanchez, Vertonghen, Rose; Dier, Sissoko; Eriksen, Alli, Moura; Kane
KICKOFF: Southampton get us underway!
SHOT! It was a positive start from Southampton, but Spurs quickly went about their business when reclaiming possession. A flick on led to Kane being provided with the opportunity to get a volley away from 20 yards, but his low effort went wide.
SHOT! The same occurs within the space of 60 seconds. Kane find himself in behind the Southampton backline, but another volley is sent off-target. The Saints don't look great at the back.
Southampton are having plenty of joy going the other way. It seems like a back three is not suiting Southampton, and a back four is not allowing Spurs to remain tight in defence.
This is shaping up to be a really good contest. Both teams look like they are going to create a chance with every attack.
YELLOW CARD! Well this is an easy decision for the referee. Moura looks to burst forward from the halfway line, and Romeu takes the chance to shove the Brazilian to the floor.
The early threat at either end has subsided. Alli is looking sharp on his return, which is impressive given that this is his first outing since the middle of January.
Spurs win a free kick on the right-hand side, but Southampton twice manage to win the aerial ball.
The visitors have started to assert themselves now. Southampton have taken the decision to sit a couple of yards deeper, but it is only inviting pressure from Spurs.
SHOT! I think this was a shot rather than a cross, although maybe I am giving Kane too much credit. A left-footed inswinger goes towards the far post, but it misses the corner. Gunn was never alarmed.
More good play from Spurs sees the ball played about neatly in the middle of the park. Southampton are chasing shadows to a certain extent.
OFF THE POST! How on earth has this stayed out?! A low cross is delivered from the right and Yoshida slides in to stop the ball from reaching Moura. However, the Japanese only diverts the ball onto the post, with the ball rebounding straight back at the defender who then has to clear off the line!
OFF THE BAR! Now Spurs hit the bar! Eriksen takes responsibility for a free kick on the edge of the box - it's perfect for a right-footer - and the Dane hits the top of the crossbar. Gunn was not getting to it.
YELLOW CARD! Southampton have a second player booked within 25 minutes. Valery is the guilty party having committed a foul in his own half.
GOAL! Southampton 0-1 Tottenham Hotspur (Harry Kane) GOAL! How Spurs have missed Alli. A rapid break ends with Alli receiving the ball on the edge of the area and dinking a pass over the defence into the path of Kane, who takes a touch before firing a low shot into the far corner from an acute angle. The visitors hold a deserved lead.
This could become one-sided fast if Spurs manage to net a second. They look extremely confident. Southampton just had a free kick in a threatening position, but the ball was easily cleared.
SHOT! This shot from Redmond is partly out of frustration. The playmaker does well to reach the edge of the area, but he is going away from goal when lashing a strike wide of the target.
Spurs win a couple of corners in quick succession and although nothing comes from either, they quickly get back into a position where they have the ball in the middle third of the pitch.
More of the same from Spurs who really are playing levels above their hosts. Hasenhuttl will be disappointed because his side competed with Manchester United last weekend. It's a different story today.
Alli looks refreshed after his time on the sidelines. He is seemingly playing without a care in the world, and it is only benefitting his team.
Just the seven minutes to go until half time. Spurs will wish that there was longer, but Southampton will be keen to get back into the changing room despite expecting a stern talking to from their head coach.
Austin has just received a talking to from the referee for cynically barging over Dier when competing for a high ball. Southampton look frustrated, but they need to remember that they are still only trailing by the one goal.
SHOT! Another half-a-chance for Spurs. The ball was delivered from the left for Kane, but the frontman can only glance a header wide of the far post.
SHOT! Eriksen is provided with the opportunity to get a shot away from distance, but his swerving effort is palmed away by Gunn.
There will be one minute of added-on time.
HALF TIME: Southampton 0-1 Tottenham Hotspur
The half-time whistle goes at St Mary's and Spurs deservedly lead at the break thanks to Kane's effort. The visitors have also hit the woodwork on two occasions, with Southampton offering very little at the other end.
The goal was scored by Kane, but it was set up by the returning Alli. The playmaker picked up the ball on the edge of the area before playing the deftest of passes over the top of the Saints backline for his teammate, who did the rest from an acute angle. Alli has been the star of the show.
A quick look at the benches for either side...
SOUTHAMPTON McCarthy, Stephens, Long, Armstrong, Targett, Sims, Slattery
TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR Gazzaniga, Son, Lamela, Wanyama, Llorente, Foyth, Davies
KICKOFF: Southampton are making a couple of changes. Sims and Long have both been introduced, with Romeu and Austin making way. We are back underway.
Like in the first half, Southampton have started positively enough but one attack from Spurs almost leads to a second goal. The home side will have to take risks, but Spurs are showing their hosts what can happen if they push too many players forward.
Southampton create a fine move down the left and the ball is eventually pulled back towards the penalty spot, but Spurs are able to clear.
SHOT! This is magnificent from Kane, who nutmegs a defender before cutting inside onto his right foot. However, the forward's eventual shot goes marginally wide of the far corner.
Southampton are meeting fire with fire - just like they did with Manchester United last weekend. There is going to be a second goal in this match sooner rather than later.
CHANCE! The home side almost find it. A ball from the right evades Walker-Peters and Redmond collects on the left-hand side of the area. The playmaker moves closer to goal, but he can only fire into the side-netting from an acute angle.
Southampton are at least giving the visitors something to think about. Spurs have been playing within themselves, but there is enough pace on the counter to ensure that Walker-Peters and Rose sit a bit deeper.
Trust has been placed in Sims, and the academy graduate is giving a good account of himself so far. The substitute has just won a free kick for his side on the right flank.
Nothing comes from a set piece or the corner which follows, but Southampton are enjoying their best spell of the game.
CHANCE! Another opportunity for Southampton, this time for Hojbjerg. The midfielder created a chance for himself inside the area before firing marginally over the crossbar to Lloris's left.
There is no sign of Spurs making a change, but it must be in the thoughts of their management team. They are now offering little threat going forward, and having to deal with a sustained period of pressure from Southampton.
We have had a lengthy stoppage of play due to an injury to Long, who has picked up a knock to his ankle. The forward is going to continue, but expect plenty of added-on time.
CHANCE! Spurs almost double their advantage, and it would have been up there for goal of the weekend. Walker-Peters dribbled past three players on the halfway line to get his side out of trouble before Spurs were able to advance forward. Eriksen was in a perfect position to shoot from 20 yards but instead decided to play a reverse pass to Kane, who curled over from 15 yards.
The visitors appear to have turned a corner and are putting pressure back on Southampton. There is definitely another goal in this match. Both sides are throwing caution to the wind.
SUBSTITUTION! Spurs make their first change with Son being introduced for Moura.
SUBSTITUTION! Long has gone down again and his game is over. Armstrong is the man being brought on the forward.
GOAL! Southampton 1-1 Tottenham Hotspur (Yann Valery)
GOAL! Southampton have equalised and what a goal it is. Bertrand threads a pass through to Armstrong who is advancing towards the byline, and a low cutback finds Valery at the back post who miscues an effort into the roof of Lloris's net! Lucky with the finish, but a fine team goal.
YELLOW CARD! The Saints are building a head of steam and Spurs have started to look nervous. Walker-Peters goes into the book for a cynical trip on Armstrong as he makes headway towards the penalty area.
GOAL! Southampton 2-1 Tottenham Hotspur (James Ward-Prowse)
GOAL! Give this man the keys to the city right now! There was a long delay before the set piece was taken, but it was worth the wait. Ward-Prowse netted a free kick against Manchester United last weekend and this effort is just as good, with the ball being curled into the top corner of Lloris's net. The goalkeeper had no chance!
SUBSTITUTION! Spurs have made a double change with Davies and Llorente replacing Rose and Alli.
Spurs are throwing players forward - as you would expect - but Gunn is having little to do. Southampton still remain lively on the counter.
YELLOW CARD! Southampton have the ball in the corner and manage to win a foul out of Sissoko. Redmond is then pushed by the Spurs midfielder, which is followed by a melee. The two players are booked.
The home side spent at least another minute in that same corner, and time is beginning to run out for Spurs.
There will be four minutes of added-on time.
CHANCE! Half a chance for Sissoko - who gets the opportunity to get a volley on goal from the edge of the area - but the Frenchman's effort is miscued and deflected over the bar.
FULL TIME: Southampton 2-1 Tottenham Hotspur
The full-time whistle goes at St Mary's and Southampton have completed an unlikely win over Spurs! The visitors dominated the opening 60 minutes and deservedly lead through Kane's goal, but Valery and Ward-Prowse have secured a huge victory for the home side.
