Tottenham Hotspur got their Premier League campaign off to a winning start this afternoon, leaving it late to beat West Ham United 1-0 in an action-packed London derby at Upton Park.
The visitors suffered a blow on the half-hour mark as Kyle Naughton was shown a straight red card for handball inside the box, but Mark Noble rolled the resulting penalty wide.
West Ham were then also reduced to 10 men in the second half as James Collins picked up a second yellow card for a block on Emmanuel Adebayor.
It was another defender who made the difference, however, as Eric Dier rounded the keeper to net the winner in the 93rd minute of his debut.
