Sam Allardyce: Tottenham Hotspur need "a miracle worker"

Sam Allardyce believes that Tottenham Hotspur need time to gel given that they signed seven new players in the summer.

West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce believes that it would need "a miracle worker" to make Tottenham Hotspur's 2013-14 campaign a success.

Spurs sacked Andre Villas-Boas as their boss on Monday in the wake of their 5-0 defeat to Liverpool at White Hart Lane that left the London club eight points off the pace in the Premier League in seventh.

"You would have to be a miracle worker to get everybody functioning to the best of their ability," BBC Sport quotes Allardyce as saying.

"They've arrived from foreign countries in a different culture and an arena that they've never played in before.

"To get the [Spurs] team playing together and understanding each other in such a short period of time is nearly impossible. I think the fruition of the change around at Tottenham starts more next season, not this season."

Tottenham signed seven players in the summer, while winger Gareth Bale left for Real Madrid.
