Tottenham Hotspur forward Jermain Defoe has been ruled out of England's squad for Wednesday's friendly against Brazil.
The 30-year-old injured his ankle during Spurs' 1-0 win at West Bromwich Albion earlier today.
"I am extremely happy with the win - apart from the injury to Jermain Defoe," said Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas.
"He rolled his ankle. He will have to have a scan to reveal the extent of the injury.
"Hopefully there is not a lot of ligament damage. If there is, he could be out for two to three weeks. Has he been withdrawn from the England squad? Yes he has.''
Defoe, who left The Hawthorns wearing a protective boot, has scored 17 goals in 52 senior international appearances.
