Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Brad Friedel believes that the club are now in a stronger position following the sale of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid.
The North London outfit spent a large chunk of the £85m they received for the Welshman on seven new players, including Vlad Chiriches, Erik Lamela, Christian Eriksen, Roberto Soldado, Etienne Capoue, Paulinho and Nacer Chadli.
"It's not always that a manager and a board can turn what could have been a massive negative, losing someone like Gareth Bale, into a massive positive," Friedel told talkSPORT.
"Losing a player like Gareth Bale would normally make your squad weaker, but I don't think that's the case. I think our squad is stronger for it."
Spurs are currently second in the Premier League table, on level points with leaders Arsenal.
