Danny Green tells Sports Mole that his former teammate Dele Alli is capable of playing in the Premier League for Tottenham Hotspur now.

Danny Green has backed his former teammate Dele Alli to make a success of his move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Winger Green played alongside the 19-year-old last season at MK Dons, who agreed to his sale for a fee in the region of £5m last February.

Instead of joining Spurs immediately, Alli spent the remainder of the campaign with the Dons on loan as they secured promotion to the Championship, thanks in part to his 16-goal haul in 39 appearances.

Having seen the youngster up close, Green has told Sports Mole that the attacking midfielder has the potential to become an established player at White Hart Lane.

"He can be as good as he wants to be. He's such an athlete. He's technically very good from a football point of view and he can also score goals. It's all about how he copes as a Premier League player, but he's got everything to be successful," said Green, who recently switched to Luton Town.

There had been suggestions that with competition from the likes of Christian Eriksen, Erik Lamela, Nacer Chadli and Alex Pritchard for a place in Mauricio Pochettino's starting lineup, the England youth international could benefit from dropping down into the Championship for a loan stint this coming season.

However, Green has stressed that having taken League One by storm, there is no reason why Alli would not be ready for Premier League football.

"A lot of people have been saying that he should spend a year in the Championship," added Green.

"League One and the Championship are different levels of course, but when you're dominating League One like he was, I'm not sure it would benefit him just jumping up one level. There is no reason why he cannot go and do it straight away [in the Premier League] - he has all the attributes."

Alli is expected to feature for Spurs during their upcoming pre-season friendly against the MLS All-Stars in Denver.
