Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly have to pay over £10m to appoint Julian Nagelsmann as their new manager.
Spurs are one of a number of Premier League clubs that are without a permanent manager after they sacked Antonio Conte in March.
Cristian Stellini was initially placed in interim charge, but he was dismissed following a 6-1 defeat to Newcastle United earlier last month.
The Tottenham board have placed Ryan Mason in charge until the end of the season as they continue their search for a new manager.
Spurs have been linked with a number of candidates, but former Bayern Munich boss Nagelsmann is said to be preferred by Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy.
A recent report claimed that Tottenham has held fresh talks with the 35-year-old about their manager's position.
According to The Telegraph, Spurs will have to pay over £10m to Bayern in compensation if they wish to appoint Nagelsmann.
After being sacked by Bayern last month, Nagelsmann is currently on gardening leave, which will be the case until the end of next season.
As a result, the Bavarians will be entitled to a compensation package if Nagelsmann takes a new job ahead of the 2023-24 campaign.
Nagelsmann is believed to be interested in the Tottenham job, but he will not make a decision until a new director of football is appointed.
The role is currently vacant following the resignation of Fabio Paratici, and Spurs are hoping to appoint a director of football to work under chief football officer Scott Munn, who will begin his new role on July 1.
Nagelsmann reportedly wants assurances that Spurs can challenge for silverware and compete for top transfer targets if he is to become Tottenham's new manager.
Spurs are considering several alternatives to Nagelsmann, including Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim, who has held initial talks with the North London club.
Bayer Leverkusen's Xabi Alonso, Feyenoord's Arne Slot and Celtic's Ange Postecoglou are also thought to be on Totteham's radar.
Tottenham, who are in sixth position in the Premier League table, ended a four-game winless run with a narrow 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.
