Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has insisted that he is pleased with his side's performance in their pre-season friendly against Atletico Madrid, despite falling to a 1-0 defeat.
Spurs hit the woodwork twice in the first half at the Melbourne Cricket Ground before Diego Godin gave Atletico the lead against the run of play 10 minutes before half time.
That proved to be the only goal of the game as Tottenham slumped to another pre-season defeat, but Pochettino only had praise for his side after the match.
"It was a fantastic performance and a great experience for us. I am very happy with this young team," he told the club's official website.
"Their goalkeeper was man of the match which says a lot. We finished the game with 9 players who have come through the academy - great."
Spurs will begin the new Premier League season away to Everton on Saturday, August 13.
