Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min admits that it was "special" to become the highest-scoring Asian player in the Premier League, breaking the record of Park Ji-sung.

Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min has revealed that it was "special" for him to break Park Ji-sung's record to become the highest-scoring Asian player in the Premier League.

On Sunday afternoon, Son netted the only goal of the game as Spurs ran out 1-0 winners over Crystal Palace to maintain their third-place position in the top-flight table.

The 25-year-old has now scored 20 goals in the Premier League - one more than former Manchester United midfielder Park - and the South Korean international has admitted that he was delighted to surpass a player he describes as his "idol".

Son told the club's official website: "It was a special day for me. Park Ji-Sung had the record and he's my idol. He's a legend. He's got everything. I've a lot to do to catch him.

"It's a record which makes me happy. I can enjoy this day but I'm still hungry. I hope I can score many, many goals for Spurs."

Son has scored a total of 32 goals in 102 appearances since joining Spurs from Bayer Leverkusen in August 2015.
