Tottenham Hotspur reportedly hold an interest in Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Julen Lopetegui.

Earlier in the season, Lopetegui was removed from his position at Sevilla, but the Spaniard was soon handed an opportunity to move to long-term suitors Wolves.

Despite the club sitting at the bottom of the Premier League table upon his arrival, Lopetegui was able to guide Wolves to safety with three matches remaining.

Having been allowed to spend in the region of £75m during the January transfer window, Lopetegui now wants the Wolves owners to back him for a second time in the summer.

In the period of games under Lopetegui's guidance, Wolves have accumulated 30 points from 21 fixtures, putting them 10th in the standings for that timeframe.

The West Midlands outfit have accumulated two more points than Spurs since Boxing Day, and it appears that has not gone unnoticed by the powers-that-be at the North Londoners.

According to Football Insider, Spurs are admirers of each of Lopetegui and Wolves' sporting director Matt Hobbs.

Chairman Daniel Levy is seemingly preparing to put together a proposal for the pair with Spurs requiring replacements for Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici.

While Spurs have been active in their search for a new head coach, it has been suggested that a lack of certainty over positions behind the scenes could be hindering their efforts.

Hobbs is a recent appointment in the respective position at Wolves, earning the promotion in November soon after the exit of Scott Sellars.

In the transfer window that followed, Hobbs helped deliver many of Lopetegui's desired targets, including West Ham United's Craig Dawson and Atletico Madrid's Matheus Cunha.

Mario Lemina, Joao Gomes and Pablo Sarabia were also high-profile additions from Nice, Flamengo and Paris Saint-Germain respectively, and the pair appear to be working productively in unison.

Wolves defeated Spurs when the teams met in March, one of several Molineux victories in the second half of the season with the likes of Liverpool, Aston Villa and Chelsea also succumbing to Lopetegui's side. body check tags ::
