Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly placed Gerardo Martino high on a list of possible targets should Tim Sherwood leave the club at the end of the season.

Sherwood's future at White Hart Lane remains unclear despite only taking over from Andre Villas-Boas in December, with some reports suggesting that he needs to secure Champions League qualification to convince the club's hierarchy that he is the right man to take the team forward.

Barcelona coach Martino has seen his own future questioned in recent weeks and Spurs are preparing to approach the 51-year-old if he leaves the Camp Nou, according to The Metro.

Louis van Gaal, who will leave his post as Netherlands manager after the World Cup, is also rumoured to be a target for Spurs

Tottenham are currently fifth in the Premier League.
