Hull City's chances of Premier League survival were dealt a severe blow on Saturday with a 2-0 defeat away to Tottenham Hotspur.

Following a goalless first half, the hosts took the lead with 54 minutes played when Nacer Chadli rounded goalkeeper Steve Harper before slotting in.

Spurs then sealed the points just seven minutes later as Danny Rose smashed the ball home after being picked out by Ryan Mason.

TOTTENHAM

Goal

Hugo Lloris: Some wayward finishing from Hull meant that the Frenchman was not kept all that busy, though he was solid enough between the sticks. (7/10)

Defence

Eric Dier: Was caught out of position a couple of times in the first half. However, he also made some important tackles to keep the opposition out. (7/10)

Federico Fazio: Did not always look comfortable at the back, particularly in the opening 45 minutes when Hull were the dominant side. (6/10)

Jan Vertonghen: Coasted through the game without much influence. Another tepid performance from the Belgian. (5/10)

Danny Rose: A lively showing from the left-back, who battled doggedly and was rewarded with a well-taken goal. That said, he was lucky not to pick up a second booking at the end of the match for a clash with David Meyler. (7/10)

Midfield

Ryan Mason: Did a good job of leading Spurs on from midfield with a mature, composed display. Showed his flair when setting up Rose for Tottenham's second goal. (8/10)

Nabil Bentaleb: Grew more influential as the afternoon wore on following an ineffective first half. (6/10)

Erik Lamela: Another inconsistent performance from the Argentine. Would look dangerous in attack before drifting anonymously. (6/10)

Christian Eriksen: Possible tired legs meant that the creative midfielder found it difficult to provide his side with much in the way of invention. (6/10)

Nacer Chadli: Finished expertly to put the home side 1-0 up, but there was little else to shout about from the Belgian. (5/10)

Attack

Harry Kane: Despite a stuttering service from his teammates, Kane's movement kept the Hull defence permanently on their toes. (7/10)

Substitutes

Moussa Dembele: Added a bit of mettle to Tottenham's midfield in the second half, allowing them to take a firm grip on the match. (6/10)

Benjamin Stambouli: Came off the bench for the final 10 minutes and was forced to do his bit at the back as Hull tired to claw back the deficit. (6/10)

Roberto Soldado: Only had a handful of minutes on the pitch at the end of the game and did not do anything of note. (5/10)

Steve Harper: Offered the visitors an assured presence at the back, though there was nothing he could have done about either of Tottenham's goals. (6/10)

James Chester: Worked hard in defence for Hull, particularly after the break when Spurs started to pile on the pressure. (6/10)

Michael Dawson: Gave a good account of himself on his return to his former club. Blocked and tackled with plenty of commitment. (6/10)

Paul McShane: Provided the visitors with a good aerial threat from set pieces. Had two decent chances to get on the scoresheet, but fluffed both of them. (6/10)

Ahmed Elmohamady: Ran tirelessly down the left flank, putting some good crosses into his teammates. At least one of them should have been converted. (6/10)

Midfield

David Meyler: Hustled and bustled around midfield, though his effectiveness faded the longer that the match went on. (6/10)

Tom Huddlestone: The former Spurs man was more subdued than usual. Struggled to get around the pitch and looked static. (5/10)

Stephen Quinn: Seemed to do more shouting than anything else. Failed to offer his side much apart from earnest posturing. (5/10)

Robbie Brady: Played a key role in Hull's attacking moves during the first half before dropping off as Spurs turned the screw. (6/10)

Attack

Dame N'Doye: Was lively in attack. However, his decision-making was not always up to scratch. Could have got on the scoresheet with a bit more composure. (6/10)

Nikica Jelavic: Rattled the woodwork during a dangerous first-half display. A lack of match fitness saw him brought off with an hour played. (6/10)

Substitutes

Abel Hernandez: Missed a great chance to pull a goal back for Hull in the second half. Found opportunities hard to come by after that. (5/10)

Andrew Robertson: Worked hard for the final 20 minutes, but by this time Hull were struggling to make much happen. (6/10)
