How Tottenham Hotspur could line up against Brighton & Hove Albion

Sports Mole looks at how Tottenham Hotspur could line up for their Premier League showdown with Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday.

Tottenham Hotspur will be aiming to record back-to-back wins in the Premier League for the first time this season when they welcome Brighton & Hove Albion to the capital for Sunday's showdown.

Jose Mourinho's men enjoyed a 1-0 victory over Burnley in their most recent top-flight outing, but the Lilywhites fell to defeat to Belgian side Royal Antwerp by the same scoreline in the Europa League in midweek.

However, Mourinho made a number of changes for Thursday's game and will be expected to recall some of Tottenham's big-hitters to the starting lineup against Brighton, who boast just one Premier League win in the 2020-21 campaign.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Tottenham could line up for Sunday's clash with the Seagulls.

Thursday's clash with Antwerp saw Mourinho make a plethora of expected changes to the Spurs starting lineup, but even with the quality on show in the first XI, Tottenham nevertheless succumbed to a disheartening defeat in the Europa League.

Gareth Bale's second start in Tottenham colours since his return was an underwhelming affair for the Welshman, who was hauled off just before the hour mark, while the quartet of Steven Bergwijn, Dele Alli, Carlos Vinicius and Giovani Lo Celso only lasted 45 minutes before Mourinho had seen enough.

Only two players have a strong chance of retaining their spots in the first XI for Sunday's fixture - those being Hugo Lloris and Sergio Reguilon - with alterations expected in all areas of the pitch following Thursday's defeat.

Harry Kane and Son Heung-min are sure to come back into Mourinho's starting lineup as the duo look to continue their prolific partnership, with Lucas Moura - one of those brought on for the second period against Antwerp - also in line for a recall to the right-hand side.

Tanguy Ndombele, who has been handed a new lease of life at Spurs this season, did not travel to Belgium for the midweek game and should therefore start here, with fellow midfielders Moussa Sissoko and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg demoting Lo Celso and Harry Winks to the bench.

Eric Dier was the only other player who was left at home by Mourinho, and with makeshift centre-back Ben Davies at fault for Antwerp's goal on the night, Dier is all but guaranteed to return to the defence with Toby Alderweireld.

Alderweireld's recall will most likely see Davinson Sanchez drop down to the substitutes once again, while Matt Doherty could replace Serge Aurier at right-back, with the Ivorian making his return from injury on Thursday night.
