A first-half goal from Harry Kane gives Tottenham Hotspur a 1-0 victory over Real Madrid in Tuesday's Audi Cup semi-final in Munich.

Tottenham Hotspur have progressed through to the Audi Cup final courtesy of a 1-0 victory over Real Madrid in Tuesday's encounter in Germany.

A first-half effort from Harry Kane proved to be the difference in Munich as Spurs advanced through to a meeting with either Bayern Munich or Fenerbahce on Wednesday.

Real had their moments against the Premier League outfit, but defeat at the Allianz Arena means that the La Liga giants have now lost three of their four pre-season fixtures.

Summer signings Eden Hazard and Tanguy Ndombele were on show for their respective clubs, although the opening quarter of an hour passed by without either side making any kind of an impression in the final third.

However, that quickly changed as Spurs went on the offensive, with Keylor Navas needing to react quickly to prevent Raphael Varane from putting through his own net after a Danny Rose cross.

The Costa Rica international then made a sharp stop to keep out Erik Lamela's volley from inside the area, before Ndombele's swerving 30-yard strike was diverted over the crossbar.

Kane eventually made the pressure from Spurs pay off midway through the first period. A misplaced pass from Marcelo lead to the forward being played through on goal, and the Englishman made no mistake by slotting the ball under Navas from 10 yards out.

Real improved as the opening half progressed, with Karim Benzema unfortunate not to find the bottom corner from near the penalty spot after his effort took a slight deflection off Toby Alderweireld.

Navas continued to impress at the other end, this time tipping a close-range strike from Kane wide of the far post, but Real could not take advantage before the break with Benzema sending a left-footed shot marginally off target.

Mauricio Pochettino made a wide array of changes at the break in a bid to keep some of his players fresh for tomorrow's fixture, while Zinedine Zidane opted against making any alterations.

The continuity appeared to work in Real's favour as Spurs struggled to find their feet, with Marcelo seeing a 30-yard shot saved by Hugo Lloris and Hazard having a goalbound shot blocked inside the area.

Spurs responded positively, however, as Son Heung-min saw a 25-yard curler superbly clawed away by Navas, who then positioned himself well to keep out Dele Alli's volley on the run.

As the game entered the final 15 minutes, Real thought that they had found an equaliser through Rodrygo, but the young Brazilian was half a yard offside when making his run to volley home at the back post.

Japanese prospect Takefusa Kubo was introduced during the closing stages, with the 18-year-old going close with long-range efforts on two occasions in as many minutes.

Spurs went straight up the other end and Troy Parrott came agonisingly close to wrapping up the game for his side, with his attempt from just inside the area striking the far post.

However, that narrow miss mattered little as Spurs saw out the reminder of the game to set up an opportunity to win the four-team tournament on Wednesday evening.
