Brendan Rodgers 'becomes Tottenham's top target to replace Jose Mourinho'

Tottenham Hotspur identify Brendan Rodgers as their leading candidate for the vacant manager's position, according to a report.
Sports Mole

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly earmarked Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers as their leading target to take over from Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho was relieved of his duties in North London last week, with Ryan Mason placed in caretaker charge at just 29 years old.

The former Spurs midfielder got off to a winning start at the club with a 2-1 victory over Southampton, but Spurs are not expected to appoint him as manager on a permanent basis.

RB Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann has been linked with a switch to North London, but according to The Sun, Rodgers is Spurs' priority target for the vacant position.

The report adds that Daniel Levy is an admirer of the Northern Irishman, and he is undeterred by comments that Rodgers made about the club nine years ago before he took the Liverpool job.

Mourinho, meanwhile, is being linked with an instant return to management with Rodgers's former club Celtic, who have reportedly made an approach for the 58-year-old. body check tags ::
