Southampton and Belgium defender Toby Alderweireld has admitted that he would be keen to link up with international teammate Jan Vertonghen at Tottenham Hotspur next season.
Atletico Madrid man Alderweireld has impressed during his loan spell with the Saints this season, with manager Ronald Koeman said to be keen to make the switch permanent.
Alderweireld says that he is enjoying playing Premier League football and would be open to staying in England, potentially to team up with Vertonghen.
"It would be very nice to play again with Jan," Alderweireld told HLN.
"The interest has yet to be concrete and finally Atletico must let me go. Maybe they want me back in Madrid. I have to wait for the calls after the season. Atletico Madrid will largely decide what I'll do. But that such clubs are interested only indicates that I'm doing well.
"For now I only try to focus as much as possible on Southampton. I am very happy in the Premier League, which really suits me."
Alderweireld has made 20 appearances for Southampton this season.
