Aston Villa winger Jack Grealish has revealed that he felt "95% sure" he would link up with Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
Grealish impressed in the Championship last season, and with Villa enduring significant financial problems, the academy graduate was frequently linked with Spurs.
The 23-year-old has since penned a new contract at the West Midlands outfit, but the former England Under-21 international has suggested that his career was close to taking a different path.
Grealish told The Telegraph: "At Hull, I was 95% sure it was going to be my last game. I waved to the fans when I got taken off as I thought I was going.
"Even on the Thursday morning of the transfer window, I thought I was leaving At that time it could have got done, but for whatever reason it didn't.
"[Spurs] weren't willing to pay what Villa wanted at the time, but the new owners came in and they changed everything."
Grealish has started each of Villa's nine matches in the Championship this season.
