Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is open to leaving Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window, according to a report.

The Denmark international joined Spurs from Southampton for around £15m in the summer of 2020 and has since made 167 appearances for the club across all competitions, scoring 10 goals and providing 16 assists.

However, Hojbjerg has fallen down the pecking order since the arrival of manager Ange Postecoglou last summer, leading to speculation surrounding his future in North London.

The 28-year-old has started only six of his 22 appearances for Tottenham in all tournaments so far this season, including just five starts in 15 Premier League outings.

Hojbjerg is under contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium until June 2025, but the midfielder has been tipped to depart the club either this month or next summer in search of regular game time.

According to Sky Sports Deutschland reporter Florian Plettenberg, Hojbjerg is open to seeking a fresh challenge away from Tottenham in the winter transfer window.

Plettenberg adds that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will entertain loan offers that include an obligation to buy, but loan bids that include only an option to buy in the summer will not be considered.

Juventus have been strongly linked with Hojbjerg for some time and are said to still hold an interest in the midfielder, but a possible return to Bayern Munich is not on the cards at present.

Hojbjerg began his senior career with Bayern and made just 25 first-team appearances for the club across a three-year period before moving to the Premier League to join Southampton in 2016.

It is thought that Spurs would be willing to part ways with Hojbjerg this month if they receive a suitable offer and that a ready-made replacement is lined up.

Recent reports have linked the Lilywhites with a move for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher at a time when the Blues have been tipped to cash in on the England international to balance their books.

However, it is understood that Gallagher has no interest in leaving Stamford Bridge and Tottenham have since identified Blackburn Rovers teenager Adam Wharton as a possible alternative.

Postecoglou currently has just three central midfield options at his disposal in the form of Hojbjerg, Rodrigo Bentancur and Oliver Skipp, as both James Maddison and Giovani Lo Celso are injured, while Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr are away on Africa Cup of Nations duty. body check tags ::
