Lewis Holtby could be about to do a U-turn on his proposed move to Tottenham Hotspur.
The Schalke 04 midfielder, who has agreed to move to Spurs in the summer, may yet be the subject of transfer bids this month.
Everton are the most likely suitors, with the player himself admitting to being a Toffees fan, but Spurs are confident that the deal is already done.
Schalke's managing director Horst Heldt recently said that Holtby could be sold this month and that the club would speak to Spurs about it.
The player himself admitted: "My father has been an Everton fan since he was five and he infected me with the Everton virus, since then I have been a fan."
A Spurs spokesman told the Daily Express: "He has signed an agreement to join us in the summer and that's that. We don't know what the Schalke people's agenda is on this."
Holtby had said earlier this month that he was delighted with the move to Spurs.
