Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has been left out of the Lilywhites' squad for their pre-season Asia-Pacific Tour in order to "explore prospective transfer opportunities", the club has confirmed.

New head coach Ange Postecoglou will take his side to Australia, Thailand and Singapore between now and the end of the month, starting with a clash against West Ham United in Perth on July 18.

The Lilywhites will then trek to Thailand to meet Leicester City on July 23, before a meeting with the Lion City Sailors - who replaced Roma - in Singapore three days later.

Postecoglou has named a 31-strong squad for his maiden pre-season in charge of Tottenham, but there is no space in his contingent for long-serving number one Lloris, who is now confirmed to be seeking a move elsewhere.

In a statement, Spurs announced that the 36-year-old had been given permission to remain in North London as his agents scope out exit routes after a successful 11-year stay in North London.

Lloris has been Spurs' undisputed number one since joining from Lyon in the summer of 2012, and he has kept 151 clean sheets in 447 matches for the Lilywhites across all competitions.

The former France international sits eighth in the club's all-time appearance charts and has played more games for Tottenham than any other non-British player, but his form declined last season.

Lloris made a Premier League-high four mistakes directly leading to a goal, as Spurs missed out on European football with an eighth-placed finish, conceding 63 goals along the way.

Tottenham still have Lloris under contract for another year, but having signed Guglielmo Vicario from Empoli, the Lilywhites are happy to part ways with the veteran Frenchman in the current window.

Lloris has already admitted that he is pining for a return to Nice, whom he represented for four years between 2008 and 2012, although Paris Saint-Germain could also try to bring him back to his homeland.

Inter Milan are also believed to be weighing up a move for the 36-year-old ahead of Andre Onana's expected transfer to Manchester United, while clubs in Saudi Arabia are allegedly prepared to offer Lloris the chance to treble his wages.

In addition to Lloris, Spurs will be without Rodrigo Bentancur, Ryan Sessegnon, Fraser Forster, Bryan Gil and Troy Parrott for their Asia-Pacific tour, as all five players are recuperating from injuries.

However, all-time top scorer Harry Kane is included amid ongoing speculation surrounding his future, while new signings Vicario, James Maddison and Manor Solomon will also make the trip.

Eric Dier, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Tanguy Ndombele, Sergio Reguilon, Joe Rodon, Davinson Sanchez and Japhet Tanganga are being linked with moves away from the club too, but all seven men will also form a part of the travelling party.
