Roma have reportedly upped their efforts to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen on a free transfer.
After an eight-year spell in North London and having fallen down the pecking order under Jose Mourinho, Vertonghen is expected to take on a new challenge later in 2020.
While Inter Milan are allegedly monitoring the situation, Il Messaggero says that Roma have made their move for the Belgium international.
The report says that discussions have been held with the 33-year-old, who has been offered a two-year contract at Stadio Olimpico.
Roma would also have the option of extending those terms by a further 12 months before the end of June in 2022.
Much could depend on whether Roma are able to sign Manchester United defender Chris Smalling on a permanent basis.
