Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte reportedly has no interest in signing for Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

The 29-year-old can claim to have enjoyed a successful stint at the Etihad Stadium, making 179 appearances since linking up with the Premier League giants in 2018.

Furthermore, Laporte has played a key role in City achieving many of the trophies that they can won during that period, but it appears that his time at the club may be coming to an end.

Although he was hindered by injuries on occasions last season, the Spain international made just 14 starts in the top flight and Champions League.

Many of his outings came during the closing weeks of the season as Pep Guardiola rotated his side in a bid to win the treble, which they successfully achieved.

However, it has been widely reported that Guardiola is looking to wrap up the signing of RB Leipzig's Josko Gvardiol, a player of similar qualities to Laporte.

With two years left on his contract, there is allegedly an acceptance that Laporte could move onto pastures new over the coming months, yet it appears that he has no intention of moving to one club in the Premier League.

According to Football Insider, Laporte has rejected the opportunity to make the switch to Spurs ahead of 2023-24.

The report suggests that the North London outfit made an attempt to gauge the interest of Laporte in moving to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before being turned down by the left-sided centre-back.

Spurs head coach Ange Postecoglou will now be forced to look elsewhere when it comes to strengthening in that area of the pitch, Spurs having conceded 63 goals in the league last season.

Postecoglou has reportedly given the green light for Spurs to sign Clement Lenglet on a permanent basis after the Frenchman initially returned to Barcelona after his loan stint.

With Davinson Sanchez expected to be sold and Japhet Tanganga also likely to be available, Spurs will need to sign at least one fresh face to complement their current options.

Postecoglou is also said to be trying to sign Leicester City playmaker James Maddison, Spurs seemingly ahead of Newcastle United in the race for his signature. body check tags ::
