Manchester City could reportedly receive around £8.5m in profit if Sporting Lisbon right wing-back Pedro Porro secures a permanent exit away from the Portuguese club.
The 23-year-old spent three years contracted to the Citizens between August 2019 and August 2022, but he never made a single senior appearance for the club.
Porro spent a year on loan with Spanish side Real Valladolid in the 2019-20 campaign before joining Sporting Lisbon on a temporary two-year deal.
Sporting then triggered Porro's buyout clause of around £7.2m (€8.5m) over the summer, with Man City inserting a 30% sell-on clause into the deal.
A recent report claims that Tottenham Hotspur have expressed their interest in Porro, with Antonio Conte keen to bolster his options at wing-back.
Spurs are not the only club keeping tabs on the defender, though, as the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus have also been credited with an interest.
According to The Express, Sporting now value Porro at £39m (€45.3m) and should Spurs agree to meet their price tag, Man City could receive around £8.5m in profit due to their sell-on clause.
The Citizens previously included a similar sell-on clause in Jadon Sancho's deal when he signed for Borussia Dortmund, and they eventually earned around £11m when the English winger made his big-money switch to Manchester United in the summer of 2021.
Man City are also understood to have a 20% sell-on clause in Jack Harrison's deal at Leeds United, and the Premier League champions could receive up to £5m should the winger leave Elland Road.
Porro is under contract at the Estadio Jose Alvalade until June 2025, but the report adds that Man City have the option to re-sign Porro for less than half of Sporting's value as the they included a £17.6m buy-back clause in his package.
Porro is regarded as a key asset in Ruben Amorim's side and has provided seven assists in 17 appearances for Sporting across all competitions so far this season.
The wing-back played twice against Tottenham in the Champions League group stage earlier this season, which saw Sporting pick up four points across their home and away encounters.
Conte is believed to be keen to recruit a new right wing-back in 2023 even though he already has Emerson Royal, Matt Doherty and Djed Spence at his disposal.
Spurs have also been linked with potential moves for Wolverhampton Wanderers' Adama Traore and Inter Milan's Denzel Dumfries ahead of the January transfer window. body check tags ::
