Newcastle United 'leading Leeds United in race for Joe Rodon'

Newcastle United are allegedly ahead of Leeds United in the race to secure the January signing of Tottenham Hotspur defender Joe Rodon.

Newcastle United have reportedly emerged as the frontrunners to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Joe Rodon.

The 24-year-old has endured a frustrating first half to the season in North London, his only starts coming in the Europa Conference League.

With Spurs having been eliminated from that competition, Antonio Conte may now be more willing to allow some of his fringe players to head out on loan in January.

According to The Telegraph, Newcastle are currently regarded as the most likely destination for the Wales international.

The report claims that the Magpies are ahead of Leeds United as they prioritise improvements in the defensive third of the pitch.

Although Rodon has three-and-a-half years remaining on his contract, Spurs may potentially consider a sale if Newcastle are prepared to meet their valuation.
