Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Hwang Hee-chan has allegedly emerged as a transfer target for Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur.

Although Julen Lopetegui has recently kept Wolves in the Premier League, it has become apparent that the West Midlands outfit must place a large emphasis on balancing the books over the summer.

As it stands, Lopetegui's future remains unclear, yet there is now an understanding that Wolves will have to make sales if they are to meet all the necessary criteria ahead of 2023-24.

The sale of Ruben Neves would go some way to achieving that goal, although it remains to be seen whether Wolves will be able to generate their desired fee or convince long-term suitors Barcelona to part ways with any cash rather than squad players in exchange.

That effectively leaves Wolves needing to be open to alternative sales, and The Mirror claims that Newcastle and Spurs hold an interest in Hwang.

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has made a habit of signing versatile players since his arrival at St James' Park and that is unlikely to change despite qualifying for the Champions League.

The Magpies' squad needs significantly bolstering to cope with the extra games, with Hwang seemingly an ideal player to provide different options in the final third.

Meanwhile, Spurs, who are currently without a permanent head coach, are effectively shopping in a different market to usual due to qualification for the Europa Conference League being a best-case scenario.

Only Harry Kane, ahead of a potential exit this summer, has consistently performed to a high standard, leaving the North Londoners to consider value-for-money reinforcements.

Whether Hwang offers that remains open to debate with just nine goals and four assists being recorded from his 62 appearances for Wolves in all competitions.

Just three strikes have come in the Premier League during 2022-23, yet it is appears logical that the 27-year-old is not necessarily someone who Wolves will considering selling over the coming months.

Wolves have recently announced a pre-season tour of South Korea, a decision partially made due to Hwang's reputation in his homeland and the desire to build the club's standing in Asia.

Hwang - who netted the last of his 10 international goals versus Portugal at the 2022 World Cup - also still has three years left on his contract. body check tags ::
