Tottenham Hotspur head coach Nuno Espirito Santo has praised the signing of full-back Emerson Royal, who could make his debut on Saturday against Crystal Palace.
The 22-year-old joined the club from Barcelona on deadline day for a fee believed to be worth around €25m (£21.5m), with the Brazilian signing a five-year deal.
Spurs were keen to recruit a new right-back this summer after mutually agreeing to terminate Serge Aurier's contract, and Nuno has since spoken about why the club decided to bring Emerson to North London.
"He's a good player. He's very talented. He showed himself in La Liga, which is a tough competition," the Portuguese boss said to the press ahead of this weekend's game against the Eagles.
"We signed him because we believe he can help us. He's an offensive full-back. He has aspects to improve and that's our job."
Emerson – who will wear the number 12 shirt at Spurs – made a name for himself on loan at Real Betis from Barcelona, scoring five goals and providing 10 assists in 79 appearances.
