Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Luka Modric will not face Manchester United tonight after manager Harry Redknapp said the Croatian's "head's not in the right place".
The playmaker has stated his desire to leave White Hart Lane, with rivals Chelsea interested in signing him, but Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has insisted he will not be departing.
"He's not playing," said Redknapp. "His head's not in the right place.
"We need him playing, he's very important to us, so we have to sort it out."
Redknapp believes, however, that the 25-year-old's move to Stamford Bridge could be off after the Blues appear to have agreed a deal for Valencia midfielder Juan Mata.
"I would think that's the end of the Modric deal surely," he said.
Spurs' game at Old Trafford is their first league fixture of the season after their opening match against Everton was postponed due to the London riots.
