Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly launched a bid for Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko on the final day of the summer transfer window.
The 27-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Magpies since his impressive performances for France at Euro 2016.
It is believed that Sissoko has been keen to leave the recently-relegated Championship outfit, but a fortnight ago it was reported that no formal offers for his signature had been made.
Now, according to Sky Sports News, Tottenham have made a late approach to Newcastle by lodging a £16m bid for Sissoko, but the Magpies will only consider selling for £30m.
It appears as though the midfielder will be closing the door on a three-year spell at St James' Park today as the French national team's official Twitter page has confirmed that Sissoko has been given permission to leave the squad to finalise a transfer.
The midfielder joined Newcastle from Toulouse in 2013.
