Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly still considering a summer swoop for Lille striker Jonathan David, with the Canadian potentially joining Dominic Solanke in North London.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly prepared to enter the market for another striker following the arrival of Dominic Solanke.

Following a year without a recognised central striker since the departure of Harry Kane to Bayern Munich, Spurs finally secured the services of a new marksman this month.

Ange Postecoglou's troops moved decisively for the signature of Bournemouth's Solanke, who is coming off the back of an excellent term on the South coast.

The 26-year-old netted on 19 occasions and provided three assists in the Premier League for the Cherries last term as they avoided a relegation battle.

Spurs have forked out £65m for the services of Solanke, who spent the summer on holiday after failing to be selected in England's squad for Euro 2024.

Tottenham want another striker?

According to Football Insider, Tottenham's attacking business in this summer's transfer window is not done yet, with the North Londoners targeting another striker signing.

The report claims that the Lilywhites are very keen on securing the signature of Lille marksman Jonathan David, who recently represented Canada at the Copa America in the United States.

With just a single year left on his current deal with Les Dogues, David could be a relatively cheap purchase for potential suitors across Europe.

It is understood that the Canadian would be available for around £25m, a fee that is unlikely to deter a host of the continent's biggest clubs.

As well as Tottenham, it is said that a number of other Premier League outfits are keen on the capture of the 54-time international this summer.

How many goals could David score for Tottenham?

Whenever making a big-money purchase, the buying club want to be sure of what they will receive in terms of performances from an incoming player.

That being said, David has been very consistent for Lille in recent years, scoring 26 goals in back-to-back campaigns across all competitions.

The Canadian netted 19 times from 34 Ligue 1 appearances in 2023-24, meaning that similar numbers in the Premier League for Spurs could put him into Golden Boot contention, assuming that Erling Haaland has a rough term.

There is a question now whether the Lilywhites require the services of David, considering that they already have Solanke in their ranks ahead of the new season. body check tags ::
