Tottenham Hotspur will offer Andros Townsend to Southampton in an attempt to persuade them to let Victor Wanyama go the other way, according to a report in the Daily Star.
Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino, who worked with Wanyama while at St Mary's, lodged a bid for the midfielder in the summer but the Saints refused to sell.
Ronald Koeman, meanwhile, is keen to bring England star Townsend to the South Coast in January to give him more options in attack.
Townsend has been at Spurs since 2000 but has only made two starts for his club, having been loaned out to nine sides since he stepped up to the senior team in 2009.
The 24-year-old has several other interested parties in the Premier League, including Newcastle United, Bournemouth, Watford and Aston Villa.
