Sunderland manager Gus Poyet is reportedly keen to sign Tottenham Hotspur winger Nacer Chadli.
The Black Cats are thought to remain keen on securing the services of Liverpool's Fabio Borini, who would cost them the majority of Poyet's remaining transfer budget.
As a result, the former Spurs midfielder is hopeful that he can convince the North Londoners to part with the Belgium international on a season-long loan basis, according to The Mirror.
However, the report went on to add that Tottenham would prefer to part with Chadli permanently.
The 25-year-old joined Spurs from FC Twente for £7m last summer.
